Design for Innovation

SLATE RUN

INTERNAL CIRCULATION

This project included the development of a master plan for expansion of an existing recreation center to include additional exercise space and also performing arts, community, senior, and visual arts spaces. The addition was designed to blend with the existing facility and created a new entry, clarified all internal circulation, and established the facility as a true community center. The introduction of flexibility in the overall use of the building was a major consideration, and the design team was charged to correct mechanical and infrastructure challenges that had plagued the facility since its original construction completion.
